James Riely Gordon Book by Chris MeisterJoin Historic Waxahachie, Inc. and the Ellis County Museum for an evening with Chris Meister, author of James Riely Gordon: His Courthouses and Other Public Architecture (2011).

Mr. Meister will discuss the architect's life and accomplishments from within one of Gordon's finest works, the 1895 Ellis County Courthouse. Refreshments and a book signing will be at the museum after the discussion. March 5, 2012 at 7pm.

Does that look like a 'W'?
logoA few months back I was working on a logo for a City-related project, trying to come up with a stylized Waxahachie "W". While looking over some old photos it suddenly struck me that there were what appeared to be several W-shaped formations in the Ellis County Courthouse. Since the courthouse sits in the middle of downtown Waxahachie wondered if this was an intentional design or mere coincidence. Read more
