Waxahachie Heritage Preservation Commission
In February of 2000, the City of Waxahachie established an ordinance to encourage the restoration of residential and non residential properties within the City. The details are extensive and can be found here.
National Register
Structures that have been recognized by the US Department of the Interior, as being of national historical architectural significance. Many properties were added to this list following recommendations from the 1985 Hardy Heck Moore Survey which is available at the Ellis County Museum and a download form available at the City's web site.

Texas Historical Medallion
Designates those structures and sites honored for statewide significance by the Texas Historical Commission. Because of the qualifying requirements, probably the most difficult to aquire.
Historic Waxahachie, Inc. (HWI)
This designates structures and sites more than 50-years old and recognized by HWI as"Especially Worthy of Preservation."
