Calaboose (Jail) 1885

One of the earliest Waxahachie structures still in existence. Along with the Wyatt Building it currently sits in Singleton Plaza, having been recently relocated and shored up through the efforts of members of Historic Waxahachie, Inc. The Calaboose was probably used as a temporary housing for the over-served patrons of Waxahachie, which supported a very large number of saloons before Trinity University came to town in 1902. The City shut them down through an agreement with the University.
